Moscow 1991-1995: What Did We Think We Were Doing?
Join Harvard's Davis Center for a panel discussion with George Krol, Thomas Simons, Alexandra Vacroux, and Mary Yntema on the post-Soviet transition. The collapse of the Soviet Union inaugurated tumultuous times in Russia—indeed, the 1990s were a time of great hopes and mighty disappointments. Policy failures and perceived humiliation by the West have become a cornerstone of the current regime’s legitimization strategy, and are often discussed in Moscow. We rarely talk about them here in the United States. Join the Davis Center for a discussion about this period. The panelists were involved in a range of reforms, from foreign policy to the non-profit sector, and will share insights into the objectives and approaches that underlay efforts to support the post-Soviet transition. They will also talk about how it all turned out.
