Join the Harriman Institute and the Technology, Media and Communications (TMaC) specialization at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs for a talk with Thomas Kent, President of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Kent is a specialist in international reporting, Russian affairs and journalistic ethics. He joined RFE/RL in 2016 after a career of more than 40 years at The Associated Press, including posts as standards editor, international editor, Moscow bureau chief and chief of operations in Tehran during the Iranian revolution. An advisor to the Ethical Journalism Network, Kent has been a board member of the Organization of News Ombudsmen, a Pulitzer Prize juror in international reporting and an advisor to the Society of Professional Journalists. He is a graduate of Yale University with a degree in Russian and East European Studies and speaks Russian, French and Spanish. He taught and advised at the Harriman Institute and the Columbia Journalism School from 1996-2016.
