Russia Policy for the Trump Administration: A Call for Elevation and Calibration

This discussion will launch the latest report from the Center on Global Interests (CGI). Informed by over 40 interviews with top U.S. and Russian experts and policymakers, "Russia Policy for the Trump Administration: A Call for Elevation and Calibration," authored by Andrew Kuchins, examines the question of U.S.-Russia relations under the new administration.

Donald Trump arrives in the White House with U.S.-Russia relations at their lowest point since the Cold War. Disagreements over Ukraine, Syria and the future of European security, not to mention the recent cessation of nuclear cooperation agreements and Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election, have pushed ties to the brink of open conflict. Should the Trump administration maintain the current policy of isolation and pressure through sanctions, attempt a new reset on new terms or try something different altogether?
