Russia Abroad: Driving Regional Fracture in Post-Communist Eurasia and Beyond
Join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for a talk on Russia's role in its surrounding regions. The collapse of the Soviet Union left Russia encircled by weak states and fractured regions. Some of the divisions around Russia’s periphery are legacies of the Soviet Union and Russian Empire. Others are the result of contemporary political and economic divides. From the Balkans to Central Asia and the Middle East, Russia seeks to manipulate these fractures to strengthen its own influence. Registration is required, and information can be found on the event page.
