What do Russia and Turkey have in common? And just how accurate are the increasingly popular comparisons of the two countries, from their domestic politics to foreign policies? Dr. Türker, in his lecture, will argue that the current political moment alone does not provide enough context for analysis. He will provide a historical perspective on the similarities, differences, and milestones in Russia and Turkey's relations with the outside world—including each other and the West.

This will be a brown bag discussion. Soft drinks will be provided.

Speaker:

Dr. Taşansu Türker, Director of the Research Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies and a Consultant to the Rector at Ankara University, Turkey.
