Taboo in Russia: Banned or Suppressed Issues
Feb. 6, 2019, 4:00-6:00pm (RSVP required)
Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia, 19 University Place, New York, NY
Join NYU's Jordan Center for a lecture and Q&A session with Dmitry Bykov on issues that are suppressed or banned and how these issues impact contemporary Russian politics. Bykov will discuss how a political regime should be judged not by the official propaganda narrative but by the subjects that are omitted in the public discourse. In contemporary Russia, many issues are suppressed or outright banned. As a result, strategies for development and the future of Russia are not discussed at all, and neither the government nor the opposition are capable of addressing today's main challenges. RSVP for this event is required.
Speaker:
Dmitry Bykov, poet; writer; educator; journalist; member of Russia's opposition movement
