Indiana University’s summer 2024 Language Workshop
Indiana University’s summer 2024 Language Workshop is accepting applications and Winter Break is the perfect time to apply!
Funding is available for Russian immersion programs at Indiana, for online programs in Azerbaijani, BCS, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Kyrgyz, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Ukrainian and Uzbek, and for overseas Hungarian programs in Budapest.
New this year: Indiana University and the University of Pittsburgh have coordinated their summer programs so that students of BCS, Czech, Hungarian or Polish can study domestically with one university then study abroad with the other. Indiana and Pittsburgh’s domestic programs cover the same material, but students in Pittsburgh’s program cover the material in 6 weeks in person, at 30 hours of class per week, while students in Indiana’s program cover the material in 8 weeks online, at 20 hours of class per week.
Russian Study Abroad Programs at Daugavpils University, Latvia
Learn Russian in the European Union (Daugavpils, Latvia) is accepting applications for the following in-person undergraduate Russian study abroad programs hosted at Daugavpils University.
- 2023 Fall semester;
- 2024 Winter;
- 2024 Spring semester.
2023 Fall and 2024 Spring Semester Abroad Programs
Each undergraduate semester abroad program duration is 16 weeks. Daugavpils University awards up to 30 ECTS credits per semester – the equivalent of 15 credit hours at US universities.
The following study programs are available:
- Russian Language and Political Science;
- Russian Language and East European Studies;
- Russian Language, Literature, and Culture;
- Russian Language and Natural Sciences/STEM with theory and laboratory practice in Russian/English.
The 2024 Spring Semester application deadline is December 1, 2023.
2024 Winter Program
This program will be very efficient for students with at least three full semesters of university Russian. Students can earn 6 ECTS (3 US) credits in the Russian language. The program will also include content lectures on Russian and Baltic culture, traditions, history, and present – all provided in adjusted Russian.
The application deadline is November 21, 2023.

Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies Program
One of the longest-running and most respected Russian language and cultural immersion programs, RLASP combines intensive classroom instruction with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including internships and community service, regional field studies, conversation partners and discussion groups with local students.

Eurasian Regional Language Program
The Eurasian Regional Language Program offers intensive, highly-individualized instruction in more than 15 Eurasian languages, including Armenian, Azerbaijani, Dari, Farsi, Georgian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Romanian, Turkish, Ukrainian and Uzbek. Through homestays, cultural activities and conversation partners, participants enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in daily local life while receiving ongoing support and guidance from American Councils expert overseas staff.

UW-Milwaukee Translation and Interpreting Studies Program
The UW-Milwaukee Translation and Interpreting Studies Program offers a Master's degree in various concentrations as well as a Graduate Certificate. Students have a number of options for study in Arabic, French, German, Russian or Spanish to English translation, as well as interpreting. All coursework can be completed either onsite or online.
Balkan Language Initiative
American Councils’ BLI offers intensive, highly individualized instruction in Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Macedonian and Serbian, and cultural activities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
