Press Briefing: The Russian Threat to Ukraine

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on February 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET will host a press briefing to address the Russian threat to Ukraine. CSIS experts will address various elements of the current crisis, including:

  • The nature of Russia's military buildup, potential invasion scenarios and Russia's clandestine irregular activities, like cyber operations;
  • The state of U.S. engagement with allies and partners, assistance to Ukraine and NATO response to protect allies and signal deterrence;
  • The view from Ukraine on Moscow’s demands and its potential new invasion, why Moscow is so intent to change the status quo in Ukraine now and the feasibility of obtaining Moscow’s desired outcomes vis-à-vis Ukraine;
  • And what different conflict scenarios might mean for European energy security.
