Facts and Documents

Here you will find key facts about Russia and a selection of strategic documents. Most of the quantitative data in this section come in graphs and charts that provide a comparison of Russia with several groups of its international competitors and peers, including Western nations, BRICS, petrostates and former Soviet republics. (The exceptions are: the timelines; Russia 101, which compares Russia only to the United States; and Russia #1s, which focuses on areas in which Russia has at some point surpassed all other countries in a data set, from nuclear warheads and satellite launches to heroin use and inmate deaths.) The documents include major treaties, foundational charters and strategies for foreign and defense policy, among others.
