CGIS South Building, 1730 Cambridge Street, Room S354, Cambridge, MA

Join Harvard's Davis Center for a talk with Rafael Sattarov and Nozima Davletova on Russia-Uzbekistan relations. With the death of Islam Karimov and presidency of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Russia-Uzbekistan relations have entered a new stage. While Tashkent is successfully making efforts to improve relations with neighbors and other countries, deepening relations with Russia seem to be of particular importance. The roundtable will explore the ongoing strengthening of Russia’s soft power in Uzbekistan, drivers behind this process, and its main actors and instruments.

Speakers:

Rafael Sattarov, columnist; political analyst, Carnegie Moscow Center (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace)

Nozima Davletova, independent researcher, Central Asia Program, George Washington University; lecturer, University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Uzbekistan
