Russian independent journalist Yevgenia Albats traveled to Ukraine in March to see firsthand what Russia’s full-scale invasion has wrought. In her travels from Khmelnytskyi in the west of Ukraine to Odesa in the south through Uman', Mykolaiv, and Kherson region, she spoke to dozen of civilians, learned how people survive through the war and what makes them keep fighting and believing in the inevitability of the victory of Ukraine over the country 3.5 its size. The bitter irony of Russia destroying the “Slavic brothers” it professes to be protecting is inescapable. Join us for an open discussion of why Putin started that war in the first place. Was the war inevitable, or was it just another unfortunate flux of history? Finally, what is Putin’s end-game?
